There
are legal and personal reasons why counsel retains JDL to conduct Juror
Interviews. Regardless of the reason, when juror interviews are conducted detailed reports
are provided to counsel with respect to the jurors willingness (or lack thereof)
to participate in the interview, and the topics covered and feedback provided.
The results of JDL’s interviews often prompt the filing of post trial motions
with the Court. However, the most
common reason why counsel retains JDL for the purpose of conducting Juror
Interviews is to simply have the unanswered questions of a trial and
deliberations answered to some degree. The
benefit of this information enables counsel to re-evaluate other similar matters
and, often times, to learn from their mistakes.
